The 38shift
Manifesto

Most organizations do not have a technology problem.
They have an execution problem.

Work moves too slowly. Decisions depend on too many people. Knowledge is fragmented across tools, teams, and meetings. AI gets added as another layer instead of changing how work actually happens.

We think that approach is broken.

We believe software should reduce coordination, not increase it.

We believe systems should carry responsibility, not just information.

We believe intelligence belongs inside workflows, not in dashboards.

The agentic future is not about replacing people.

It is about removing unnecessary effort so humans can focus on judgment, strategy, and creativity.

We do not believe in one model doing everything. We believe in specialized intelligence, designed for real domains, working together under clear rules and oversight. We believe experimentation is only valuable if it leads to production. And high-fidelity systems must be reliable, auditable, and grounded in real data.

AI without control
is fragile.
AI without context
is noise.
AI without ownership
is a liability.

That is why we build systems that can run, adapt, and evolve without constant human intervention, while remaining accountable at every step.

We are not here to ship demos.
We are here to architect the future of work.

This is
the shift.
